"What I seek from an artist residency is an opportunity to contemplate my art, values, concepts and such, explore new processes and fine tune the existing, reflect and develop. An artist residency is also an opportunity to spend focused time away from the intensity of a big city, in my case New York City. All of this was possible at Xenia Creative Retreat and much more… Additionally, I loved the opportunities to hike, explore the super lovely Hampshire landscape and villages, swim, find participants for my interview process, and spend time with my fellow resident artists. My childhood dream to visit Stonehenge is now a dream come true! Very grateful to everyone at Xenia, and I hope to visit again!

Sari Nordman creates public art projects, video works and dance performances. Her works incorporate film, metalwork, fiber arts and dance, and often involve a social engagement component. She engages people of diverse backgrounds through interview processes, fibre- arts making, and photo sharing. Her process is rooted in long hikes in nature where she reflects on nature, its persistence and human co-existence. She has discussed her projects, and the environmentalism and social engagement in her process in many publications and
artist talks.
