About
Rebecca Partridge is currently based in London. Since graduating from the Royal Academy Schools in 2007, she has exhibited internationally. Solo exhibitions include: The Glow of Hours, Thelma Hulbert Gallery, (UK), On A Clear Day Informality Gallery, (UK), In The Meantime, at Kunsthalle CCA Andratx (Spain), Notations Kunstverein Springhornhof, (Germany), and Painting Fast, Painting Slow at Konstkraft Ljusne (Sweden). She has been widely exhibited in group exhibitions in the UK, Spain and Germany and has been awarded several international scholarships including from The Nordic Kunstnasenter Dale, (Norway), The Josef and Anni Albers Foundation (USA), and The Terra Foundation for American Art (summer Fellowship in Giverny, France).
Rebecca typically works in series, sometimes multi-part paintings, that respond to different landscapes over marked periods of time. Drawn to elemental motifs; mountains, skies, seascapes, forest canopies or close ups of wildflowers, she employs a range of approaches which shift between acutely observed oil paintings on panel to large watercolours of skies painted from memories of observation. Each body of work has resulted from residencies which offer an immersion in natural environments – at the heart of which is always the importance of being in the landscape, of experience and observation. At the heart of these very different approaches are questions of perception and objectivity, the relationship between how and what we sense and perceive and therefore how we connect to our environment.
