"The break in pace and change of environment that Xenia provided me with has been an incredible gift for my practice. I drew so much inspiration from the quality of the light and the patterns of the surrounding nature, which I am rarely so immersed in. I welcomed both the precious time alone and the lovely moments and conversations with fellow artists and members of the community. I walked and sketched a lot, and experimented daily with new approaches to my work with clay. This residency has had a defining impact on the direction of my practice, and fuelled my creativity beyond my time there."

Marie is a designer and ceramicist based in South East London. She uses primarily stoneware to create clean, geometrical shapes with a neutral palette of glazes, using a combination of slab building and wheel throwing. She likes to explore how elementary patterns can create complex and distinct forms.
