"I'm so thankful for the fantastic time at Xenia Creative Retreat, the kindness, the space to think, and the opportunity to reconnect deeper to myself and nature. It was so magical to be here, surrounded by the fields!

It's incredible how this residency has sparked numerous ideas, emotions, and reflections, laying the groundwork for new techniques and artistic endeavours. They were brewed in solitude and long walks in a personal, safe mind space.
Throughout the residency, my attention was dedicated to creating watercolour paintings and drawings that explored themes of memory, our connection to the environment, and the intricate interplay of time and space. I pondered questions such as: How do we recall the various events in our lives? Are we conscious of our surroundings during moments of intense focus? I contemplated the significance of our personal experiences within the vast expanse of the universe and landscape. Additionally, I delved into the complexities of mapping experiences in a non-linear timeline, considering how we assign importance to events and elements in our lives.
As I return to my everyday life, I do so with a renewed sense of energy and purpose, determined to maintain a deeper connection with myself and the world around me."

Katya is an artist and experimental architect. She combines digital fabrication and inspirations from biology to bring ecosystemic thought and aesthetics to the future of living. She holds a Master's Degree in Emergent Technology and Design from the Architectural Association School of Architecture (London, UK). She was a researcher at The New Normal think-tank at Strelka Institute (Moscow, RU), a resident at SPACE10, IKEA's research and design lab (Copenhagen, DE), and Non-Extractive Architecture at V-A-C Foundation (Venice, IT). She has exhibited and presented her work internationally in addition to teaching and publications.
