"Feeling incredibly grateful for my time at Xenia Creative Retreat.
Back in London, I usually split my week between tattooing, painting, and everything else, so having uninterrupted days just to paint has been such a gift.

Living at the studio meant I could just wake up, do a little morning stretch, and head straight into the longest ever shifts! I finally caught up on the hundred million podcasts I’d been meaning to listen to, and gave myself time to quietly obsess over brushes, pigmentation, types of paper, and different watercolour techniques.

Daniel, is a botanical artist based in London. he specialises in large-scale, freehand botanical tattoos, creating one-of-a-kind pieces tailored to the body shape of those wearing his designs.

His practice on skin is about translating each person’s stories into unique compositions that reflect their emotional bond with site-specific flora and the memories, places, and people connected to them.

Drawing and painting have been his biggest passions for as long as he can remember. He started tattooing over a decade ago, combining his love for illustration, plants, and nature by drawing botanical motifs directly on people’s bodies.

Daniel's connection to plants began in Buenos Aires, where his mum’s cuttings and collections shaped his sense of home. Today, plants continue to influence both the spaces he inhabits and the work he creates.

Tattoos are carriers of our identity, standing for who we are and what we care about most. Daniel sees his work as a way for people to explore their relationship with nature, sparking conversations about the plants they wear and the meaning behind them.

Throughout this process, he also expand his own understanding of the vital role plants play in our lives.

Last year, he completed a residency at Sarabande Foundation, where he returned to painting on canvases and collaborated with different institutions, including a live tattoo performance at Chelsea Physic Garden, London’s oldest botanic garden. His tattoo work is also currently on display at FLOWERS at the Saatchi Gallery, a show exploring flowers in contemporary art and culture.
