"For three blissful weeks I stayed at Xenia creative retreat and residency.
My studio and living space were absolutely stunning, encased by the most extraordinary scenery. Having this time and plentiful resources to make, I was finally able to create large sculptures. This release of creative tension has rejuvenated my spirit and expanded my ideas. I learnt so much from Xenia. Most notably, patience and a newfound appreciation for nature and its wonderful healing properties. My practice going forward has changed and will continue to develop strongly with Xenia in mind.'
With a special thanks to Bianca & Stuart"

About
Ashley Cluer is a London-based sculptor and graduate of The Ruskin School of Fine Art and Drawing, University of Oxford (2022).
Her radical sculptures are created through her need to manifest that which she has imagined physically. Her works are formed through an exploitation of overlooked, foundational materials. Her sculptures exist not because they should, but because she wills them into being. Uniquely, she doesn’t adhere to any conventional construction techniques. Her materials consist of cement, plaster, steel and reclaimed timber.
Ashley's work may appear abstract, but it's an allegory of her present life, communicated through materiality, form and ironic titles. They are there to be interacted with, and they entice conversation by forcing a viewer to question what they really know or expect from their surroundings.
