Artist Residencies
Guests at Xenia receive free accommodation and a comprehensive welcome food hamper. For travelling in the local area, we have bikes which are great for the one mile ride to our well stocked village shop and also for venturing further afield to explore the pretty local market towns and villages.
Artists are invited to stay for between two weeks and two months though the length of stay will be assessed based on the individual’s particular needs. The residency mostly hosts individual residents, but also encourages small groups or pairs to stay for shorter periods – particularly when working on workshopping projects or across disciplines.
On completion of the residency, artists are invited to take part in an exhibition led by an emerging curator in residence. This show offers the opportunity for the artists to reflect on their time at Xenia with other creatives whilst celebrating the work produced as a result of the residency. There is no obligation or expectation to make or leave a work at Xenia, though if any guest would like to do so, it will be very much enjoyed and appreciated.
Xenia aims to promote inclusivity and welcomes people from all artistic practices, backgrounds and ethnicities. The programme implements these principals through its diverse residence and its constant questioning of who is art for and how we can expand our lives and those around us through creative practices. couples retreat activities
