"Xenia offered me time and space that I have never experienced before.
Nestled in the countryside I found so much more than I could have anticipated - unravelling parts of my practice and myself in the generous studio space and the expanse of green woodlands. I wrote a lot in between sculpting and drawing and was able to dig deep into my reflections about materials and form. The works that I made were steps forward into a new era of my practice and I’m so grateful for that. My fellow artists in residence provided me with critiques and the sense of community we built together is something that I will treasure for years to come. Xenia is an incredible place to expand one's practice and mind. Many thanks for the expansive thoughts, new friends, and development of work."

Education, Exhibitions, and Other Information.
Abbie Griffiths is a British artist currently working in London, UK. She received a BA from the University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and a Post-Baccalaureate at Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts in Connecticut, USA. Abbie’s work has been shown in group and solo exhibitions in the United States and Africa.
Abbie’s abstract figurative sculptures are three-dimensional collages made from the very materials that also constitute the rooms that they occupy - rebar, plaster, concrete, and fabrics. Beginning with an enquiry into the domestic nature of human life and the ways in which humans consider themselves different or separate from animals, Abbie’s work touches on themes of woman-ness and feminist theory as well as spirituality and subconscious ties to materials, rituals, and ancestors.
